Privacy policy

This website is a personal portfolio. It has no user accounts, no newsletter and no payments, and it stores no personal data itself. This page describes, for each situation, which data may be processed, by whom and why.

1. Visiting the website (hosting)

• Data: IP address, date and time, requested page, browser (technical server logs).
• Purpose: running and protecting the website (security, abuse prevention).
• Legal basis: legitimate interest.
• Recipient: the host, GitHub, Inc. (GitHub Pages), in the United States. These logs are kept by GitHub under its privacy statement; I have no access to them.
• Transfer outside the EU: yes, to the United States, under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

2. Audience measurement (GoatCounter)

• Data: page viewed, referring page, browser and system type, screen size, country derived from the IP address. The IP address is not kept and no cookie is set.
• Purpose: anonymous visit statistics (most read pages, where visits come from).
• Legal basis: legitimate interest. This measurement, without cookies, without cross-site tracking and limited to aggregated statistics, does not require consent.
• Recipient: GoatCounter (goatcounter.com), audience measurement provider operated from Ireland; the data is hosted by Hetzner, in Finland and Germany.
• Transfer outside the EU: no.
• Retention: aggregated statistics, kept as long as the measurement account exists.

3. Contact by email and the Feedback form

The “Send an email” links and the Feedback form open your own email client: nothing goes through the website. If you send the message:

• Data: your email address, your name if it appears in the message, the content of the message.
• Purpose: replying to you.
• Legal basis: legitimate interest (replying to your request), or pre-contractual measures if the message is about a position or an engagement.
• Recipient: me only; messages are hosted by my email provider, Google (Gmail), in the United States, under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
• Retention: for the duration of the exchange, then at most three years after the last contact.

4. Meeting booking (Calendly)

The contact page of the research space offers a Calendly scheduler. It loads only if you click “Show the Calendly scheduler”; a direct link to calendly.com remains available.

• Data: once the scheduler is loaded, Calendly receives your IP address and may set cookies; if you book, it receives the name, email address and information you enter.
• Purpose: organizing a 30-minute conversation.
• Legal basis: your consent (the click) for loading it; pre-contractual measures for the booking.
• Recipients: Calendly LLC, in the United States, under its privacy notice; me, for the booking.
• Transfer outside the EU: yes, to the United States, under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
• Retention: booking information is kept like emails (section 3).

5. Cookies and local storage

The website sets no cookie and no tracker before an action of yours: no consent banner is therefore needed.

The fonts, icons and scripts are hosted with the website: no resource is requested from Google or any other service when pages are displayed, apart from the GoatCounter measurement script (section 2). Links to LinkedIn, GitHub, ResearchGate, ORCID, Credly or the blog transmit nothing until you follow them.

6. Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction of processing and portability of your data. To exercise them, write to lgeobatpo98@gmail.com; I reply within one month.
